Clydesdale Bank's polymer notes enter production
The longer-lasting and waterproof note is being printed by De La Rue and includes a security feature of an image of Scotland that changes colour as the note is moved and tilted.
David Duffy, Clydesdale Bank’s chief executive, said the note had proved “extremely popular” with the public, businesses and collectors who had seen it.
A £10 polymer note will be launched in 2017. Clydesdale Bank introduces about £400 million worth of new notes every year and in 2015 reached the milestone of having more than £2 billion worth of notes in circulation on a single day.
