Marvel’s Hit-Monkey: Disney+ release date, who is in cast with Jason Sudeikis, trailer, and what is it about?

Jason Sudeikis, George Takei, and Olivia Munn star in the Marvel animated comedy about a monkey seeking vengeance

Hit-Monkey, a new Marvel animated comedy, is debuting on Disney+ on January 26.

The series, which already aired in Hulu in the US, adapts one of the lesser-known (much lesser known) characters from the Marvel comics. It stars George Takei, Jason Sudeikis, and Olivia Munn amongst others.

Here’s everything you need to know about Marvel’s Hit-Monkey.

What is Hit-Monkey about?

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey is about a Japanese macaque (sometimes called a snow monkey) that travels the Japanese criminal underground looking for revenge.

He’s mentored by the ghost of American assassin Bryce Fowler.

The character is a relatively new one, first appearing in Marvel comics published in 2010. He’s mostly associated with Deadpool and Spider-Man, but has also appeared alongside Wolverine.

Who stars in Hit-Monkey?

Hit-Monkey is played by veteran voice actor Fred Tatasciore, who has appeared in basically every American animation over the past few decades. He’s appeared in a number of Marvel projects, from What If…? to Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as Spongebob Squarepants, Looney Tunes, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Arcane.

He’s joined by Jason Sudeikis as ghostly assassin Bryce Fowler. You’ll recognise Sudeikis from his years on SNL, films like We’re the Millers, and most recently his acclaimed performance as Ted Lasso in the Apple TV+ football sitcom of the same name.

Olivia Munn voices Akiko Yokohama, another character from Marvel’s comics – Yokohama is Lady Bullseye, an assassin who first appeared in 2008. She’s Hit-Monkey’s (self-described) archnemesis. You’ll know Munn from Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom, The Predator, and the internet’s willingness to criticise her relationship with John Mulaney.

The rest of the cast includes George Takei (Star Trek) as Shinji Yokohama, a kind but world-weary politician, and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4, Home Sweet Home Alone) as Haruka, a police officer that helps Hit-Monkey in his quest for justice.

Is there a trailer for Hit-Monkey?

Yes, there is – you can watch it, and the various animated fight scenes it contains, right here.

Where can I watch it?

You can watch all ten episodes of Marvel’s Hit-Monkey on Disney+ from January 26 in the UK.

In the US, Hit-Monkey is available on Hulu.

Why should I watch Hit-Monkey?

It’s meant to be quite funny, and the basic strangeness of the premise seems like the sort of thing that might be worth seeing, just to try and believe it.
