Will Big Brother come back to the UK?

Big Brother has not aired on UK screens since 2018. The final winner, announced on 5 November, was vlogger Cameron Cole who was 22 at the time.

Ryan Thomas, a former Coronation Street actor,  was announced as the final winner of Celebrity Big Brother in August 2018.

Prior to the final series airing, a Channel 5 spokesman said: "The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last - of either celebrity or civilian versions - on Channel 5.

"We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success."

Big Brother first launched in the UK in 2000, with Davina McCall as its host.

In 2011, when the show moved over to Channel 5, Big Brother winner Brian Dowling took over as the presenter. He was later replaced by Emma Willis.

Rylan Clark began presenting spin-off Big Brother’s Bit On The Side from 2013, and was the sole presenter from 2015.

In June 2020, after rumours of the show’s re-boot, Davina and Rylan hosted a special 20th-anniversary mini-series and spent time looking back at the most iconic episodes over the past 20 years.

However, the show has not made a UK comeback just yet. Following the announcement of the show, Rylan Clark took to Twitter and campaigned for the UK’s version to return. He said: “Amazing news…NOW BRING OURS BACK”.
