The Fear Index, a new thriller starring Josh Hartnett, is available to watch on Sky Atlantic from Thursday 10 February 2022.
The series, which adapts Robert Harris’ book of the same name, is four episodes long. The finale will air on Thursday 3 March 2022.
Here’s everything you need to know about The Fear Index.
What is it about?
The Fear Index follows a technological genius who creates an AI algorithm that exploits fear in financial stock markets.
Dr Alex Hoffman (Josh Hartnett) intends to use his algorithm to make a lot of money – but he’s soon viciously attacked by a mysterious man who knows more about his life than he possibly could. Soon, Dr Hoffman begins to realise exactly how dangerous his AI really is.
The miniseries is based on a book of the same name by the author Robert Harris.
Who is in the cast?
Josh Hartnett plays Dr Alex Hoffman, the Dr Frankenstein-esque creator of an Artificial Intelligence programme. You might recognise Hartnett from appearances in films like Pearl Harbour, The Virgin Suicides, and Black Hawk Down, but he’s still best known for television role Ethan Chandler in Penny Dreadful.
Arsher Ali plays Hugo Quarry, Hoffman’s best friend and hedge fund manager. Ali has appeared in Doctor Who, Line of Duty, and Ackley Bridge, but is probably most recognisable for roles in Informer and Four Lions.
They’re joined by Leila Farzad as Hoffman’s wife Gabby, and Grégory Montel as the detective pursuing Hoffman. Farzard is best known for her role in I Hate Suzie, while French actor Montel is best known for appearing in Call My Agent.
