The MP lodged an “Early Day Motion” for the event after it was named as a finalist for the Best Outdoor Festival at the Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards 2018.

This was the second year in a row that the festival had achieved such a nomination.

Meanwhile, next year will mark the events 5th anniversary.

Eaglesham Beer Festival organisers, Fraser and Laura Wilson said: “This is a fantastic honour for the festival team.

“When we started out in 2015, we wanted to create something that would bring the village together and that people could be proud of.

“But what we’ve achieved has surpassed our expectations and its success really comes down to the support of the local community. And that includes our representatives like Paul.

“Without the backing of that community, the event could quite easily have been a one-off thing. We’re delighted now though to say it is something that people look forward to each year.

“And to be shortlisted two years in a row for best outdoor festival is so special because it is an achievement based on a public vote. To know our patrons think so much of the event as to vote for it, is very humbling.

“We want to go from strength-to-strength in what we do, and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone at our fifth birthday party.

“It might be a few months early, but an honour such as this is already the icing on the cake for us.”

Paul Masterton, MP for East Renfrewshire added: “It was a pleasure to hand over the EDM to Laura and Fraser for all their hard work. Laura, Fraser and the team continually go above the standard set the year before and as well as being a highlight of the local calendar, are now one of the major events in the beer festival scene. I’m already looking forward to attending next year and celebrating its 5th birthday.”
