A major motorway is experiencing “severe” disruption after a serious crash on another road.
The M2 is seeing delays following an earlier collision on the A2.
Motorists are warned the A2 remains closed westbound due to a crash with a lorry and a car, with 45 minute wait on the road.
It is causing congestion and delays on the M2.

Delays are building on the M2 westbound near Rochester.
How bad are the delays?
AA Traffic warn: “Severe delays of 35 minutes and delays increasing on M2 Westbound between J3 (Chatham / Rochester) and J1 A2 (Strood). Average speed five mph.”
It is not only the M2 affected.
AA Traffic warns: “Delays of five minutes and delays easing on A226 Gravesend Road Westbound between A289 and Hollytree Drive. Average speed five mph.”
There are also delays of four minutes on A226 Gravesend Road Westbound between A2 London Road and Dillywood Lane. Average speed five mph.
As well as delays of seven minutes on A2 High Street Eastbound between Parkfields and Canal Road. Average speed ten mph.
The A2 is experiencing severe delays, with National Highways saying: “Reminder - The #A2 remains closed westbound between #M2 J1 / #A289 near #Rochester and the #A227 near #Cobham #Gravesend following an earlier collision. @kent_police continue investigation work at the scene. Please seek an alternative route as delays of 45 mins on the approach.”

The accident happened on the A2 between M2/A289 near Rochester and A227 near Cobham.
Both carriageways were closed due to the crash but now the eastbound carriageway is now open again.
What have Highways England said?
Highways England have said: “A2 remains closed westbound. It’s now open eastbound between #A227 near #Cobham #Gravesend and #M2 J1 / #A289 near #Rochester due to a collision. @kent_police and an Air Ambulance have attended.
“Barrier damage/debris also reported.”
Is there a diversion route in place?
There is a diversion route on the A2 currently.
It is as follows:
“Westbound - Initially follow the solid square symbol, via the A289 north, the A226 west and A227 south.”
Did emergency services attend the scene?
An air ambulance and police attended the collision on the A2 today.
“Both carriageways are currently closed and motorists may wish to consider alternative routes to avoid congestion.”
KCC Highways added: “ Cobham, A2 Watling Street: Londonbound carriageway remains closed between Cobham and Gravesend following an RTC.
“Coastbound carriageway has now re-opened ad traffic is moving. Please use an alternative route Londonbound .”
How long is the M2 and when did it open?
The M2 is a motorway in Kent.
It is just 26 miles long and acts as a bypass of the section of the A2 road to run past the Medway Towns, Sittingbourne, Faversham, and to provide an alternative route to the Port of Dover.
It was opened in 1963 and completed in 1965.
The motorway has seven junctions.
