Callander house explosion victim stable

An ELDERLY man remains in a stable condition in hospital after he was injured in a suspected gas explosion at his house.

The majority of Robin Cunningham’s home in Murdiston Avenue in Callander, Perthshire was destroyed in the blast at 5:45am on Thursday.

Mr Cunningham, 77, was airlifted to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after being rescued by firefighters who found him trapped in the rubble.

His wife, Marianne Cunningham, 74, was rescued from the bedroom of the property before being taken to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary and has now been released.

Central Scotland Police said the majority of the Murdiston Avenue house had been destroyed by the explosion.
