A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the rape of an 83-year-old woman in Glenrothes.

The incident happened in a property in Meldrum Court, Collydean, shortly before 5am on Thursday June 25th.

On Tuesday, a police spokesperson confirmed a 21-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the serious sexual assault.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and he is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 8th.
