Eternal mystery

Both Veronica Denyer and Steuart Campbell miss the point (Letters, 28 March). It is true that God is not provable by present scientific means but what may transpire of that in future?

Veronica Denyer ridicules Christian belief in an intolerant way, making my point about secular lack of tolerance very well. And Steuart Campbell wrongly defines agnosticism as being about both “unknowing and unknowable” matters. These two words are different in meaning.

In Christian belief, God is far from “unknowable” despite our limited human understanding and our, as yet, limited understanding of our own existence, origins and destination.

As yet we see things as only through a glass darkly and unknowingly .
