A clip showing Amazon founder Bezos and girlfriend Lauren Sánchez talking to Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in LA has gone viral.
Originally posted by Variety, the video was reuploaded by the Twitter account Barstool Sports, with the caption: “Leo is Mr. Steal Yo Girl.”
Barstool Sports’ tweet has been viewed over 17 million times, and has amassed 25k likes, over 1,600 retweets and over 800 quote tweets.
The clip shows Sánchez seemingly mesmerised by the Titanic star, with many online claiming that the video captured a flirty energy between the two - right in front of Bezos.
One person tweeted: “It don’t matter if you have billions… It’s still no match against Leo.”
Another wrote: “I mean, it is Leo DiCaprio. I don’t blame her lol.”
“Well he’s Leonardo DiCaprio and that’s Dr f**kin evil, so yeah, tell me who you’d rather go home with lmfao,” tweeted another.
How did Jeff Bezos respond?
In response to the video, and the subsequent social media fallout, Bezos quote tweeted the clip from Barstool Sports with the caption: “Leo, come over here, I want to show you something… @LeoDiCaprio”
Attached in the tweet is a picture of Bezos outdoors and leaning on a sign which reads: “Danger! Steep cliff, fatal drop.”
DiCaprio hasn’t responded to the video, nor Bezos’ tweet.
Who is Lauren Sánchez?
Sánchez is an American reporter and TV personality, born on 19 December 1969.
The 51-year-old began her career as a desk assistant in LA with KCOP TV before eventually becoming an anchor on KTVK-TV and Extra in Phoenix.
In 2005, Sánchez became the host of the FOX dance competition So You Think You Can Dance. She left the programme after one season to have her second child.
Over the course of her career, Sánchez has contributed to shows such as Larry King Live, The Joy Behar Show, Showbiz Tonight. She continues to be a frequent guest host on The View.
She has also made appearances in a number of films and TV shows, including Fight Club, The Day After Tomorrow, Fantastic Four and Dirt, usually as a news anchor character, or as herself.
Sánchez has three children from previous relationships - son Nikko, born in 2001, with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez, and a son, Evan born in 2006, and daughter, Ella, born in 2008, with Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell.
Sánchez and Whitesell married in 2005, however divorced in 2019 after Bezos posted a statement accusing American Media, Inc attempted to blackmail him over his alleged affair with Sánchez.
Bezos and Sánchez’s relationship was revealed in 2019, after news broke that Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, were divorcing after being married for 25 years. Hours later, the world learned of Bezos and Sánchez’s relationship.
