Neil Gray the candidate for the Airdrie and Shotts constituency, said in a Twitter post that he had been attacked by the animal while out leafleting this week.
His post included a picture of his bloody finger where he had been bitten and a warning message reading: “Please be careful out there folks, for the first time in about 15 years of leafleting I got nipped by a dog. Tetanus jag and course of antibiotics and I am back at it today!”

Hide AdIt is understood he was bitten when leafleting in Calderbank or Glenmavis.
Mr Gray is looking to win the seat again for the SNP who have represented the area since 2011.
New polling suggests the SNP is on course to win a majority in the upcoming elections which will take place on 6 May.
