Second illegal immigrant found at restaurant

A CHINESE restaurant has been caught employing an illegal immigrant in its kitchen for the second time in just nine months following a raid by immigration officers.

Officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) swooped on the Hong Chinese Restaurant in Pumpherston, West Lothian, after receiving a tip-off, and found a 46-year-old Chinese woman employed at the Uphall Station Road business.

She must now report regularly to the UKBA, which said it will take steps to remove her from the country as "quickly as possible".

The owners now face a fine of up to 10,000 following the operation which took place at around 5pm on Thursday.

The restaurant has already been hit with a 5,000 fine after a 23-year-old Malaysian man was found working there illegally last May. He has since been deported to his homeland.
