Two killed in police chase

Two men have died following a police chase. The pair were killed after the Audi they were travelling in clipped a white van and collided with a bridge after allegedly jumping a red light.

The car’s driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while disqualified after he tried to flee the scene on the Seven Sisters Road in Haringey, north London, Scotland Yard said. The two dead men have not been identified.

They were killed after officers on routine patrol became suspicious of the Audi, which appeared to make off at speed when it was driven past police just before 2am yesterday.

After several minutes searching for the car – which had been travelling in the opposite direction – they spotted the vehicle several hundred yards away and sought to catch up, Scotland Yard said.
