City women target clean sweep of trophies

City of Edinburgh, having retained the women’s Schelde Sports Scottish League title last weekend, have set themselves the target of a clean sweep of domestic volleyball honours.

The Capital side are halfway there, having now won two of the available trophies – starting with the John Syer Trophy last December. Edinburgh face Troon Team Ayrshire in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the Edinburgh University Pleasance on April 7 and, the next weekend, take on Edinburgh Jets in the first leg of the Final Four at Wishaw Sports Centre.

Jets took the last play-off slot when they were awarded a default for last weekend’s game against Aberdonia.

City of Edinburgh Jets men can still win three of the four honours up for grabs. Having clinched the league, they now face Kilmarnock Blaze in the Scottish Cup semi-final and then Bon Accord in the first leg of the Final Four.

Final Four (Wishaw SC, April 13): Men: City of Edinburgh v Bon Accord; Kilmarnock Blaze v Edinburgh Jets. Women: Troon Team Ayrshire v North Lanarkshire; City of Edinburgh v Edinburgh Jets.
