Why is Everton v Crystal Palace postponed? Reason why Premier League match won’t go ahead this weekend
Everton vs Crystal Palace was due to take place this weekend, however the Premier League match has been rescheduled.
Everton were due to host Crystal Palace this weekend as they continue their pursuit of retaining their Premier League status.
The Toffees were handed hope last time out when they caused an upset against Manchester United and claimed all three points, while they also benefitted from Burnley’s defeat to Norwich.
Frank Lampard’s side will be raring to go and will have been confident they could succeed against the Eagles - however they will now have to wait a little longer to face off at Goodison Park.
This weekend’s fixture was confirmed to be rescheduled last month, meaning both teams could see their league position temporarily affected.
Why has Everton v Crystal Palace been postponed?
Everton and Crystal Palace battled it out for a place in the FA Cup semi-final in March, however it was Patrick Vieira’s side that came out on top with a brilliant 4-0 win.
This weekend’s match had already been postponed prior to their cup clash, as whichever side won last month would be participating in Sunday’s semi-final.
As a result, Crystal Palace will take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon and their tie with the Toffees has been rescheduled.
When will the match be played?
The clash between Everton and Crystal Palace has been rescheduled to take place on Thursday 19 May at 7:45pm - the penultimate game of the Premier League season.
For Everton, it is sandwiched between fixtures against Brentford and Arsenal, and the Toffees may know their fate by then.
Meanwhile, Palace take on Aston Villa and Manchester United either side of their trip to Goodison Park.
