Ex-Rangers star believes Motherwell win 'one of the most important this season'

Steven Gerrard’s men were made to work for the three points after Callum Lang gave the visitors a sixth minute lead.
From that point Motherwell sat back in two banks of five and denied Rangers the space in which to play through. It wouldn’t be until the 73rd minute that Kemar Roofe managed to find an equaliser, nine minutes before substitute Cedric Itten put the hosts in front.

Hide AdRoofe netted again in stoppage time to seal the victory, which sends the Ibrox side 16 points clear at the top of the table, albeit with Celtic holding three games in hand.
Due to the nature of the win, coupled with the Betfred Cup defeat to St Mirren in midweek, McCann reckons it’s a vital victory in the title race.
He told Rangers TV: “I think that could be one of the most important wins of the season. Not from the start of the game, even though we were looking for a reaction and bouncing back from a poor result, but from the way that game played out. It suddenly became one of the more important games of the season.
"If they dropped points, Rangers, Celtic would have been sitting there watching that thinking ‘they’re gone’.
"That has sent out a message to say, ‘that was one of our toughest games today, we had to do something different, but we’ve answered a huge question’. Because that was tailor made for Motherwell to hold out.”
