Malky Mackay reveals why he selected Ryan Jack in Scotland squad
The inclusion of Jack, who has been sent off three times in 14 matches since joining Rangers in the summer, was the subject of much debate.
Mackay included eight uncapped players in his squad, including a handful earning their first call-up to the senior national team, including Paul Hanlon and Jason Cummings.
But Mackay has revealed why he selected Jack, saying: “Ryan Jack is someone who was Aberdeen captain, and was a consistent performer for them and who has gone into Rangers in different circumstances, playing a different style of football and playing with an array of different players.
“Through people I speak to at his own club and previous club and scouts, he is another talented player who we are giving a chance to.”
Jack is no stranger to the international scene, having represented Scotland at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level as well as captaining the Under-21s.
