Scottish Football LIVE: Exciting winger tipped for Rangers move, ex-Celtic star slams 'abysmal' recruitment, Ibrox attacker could be sold

There is a just a little over three weeks until the start of the January transfer window.

It will be interesting to see how Scottish clubs approach the window. Neil Lennon has already admitted Celtic will be looking to freshen things up, while Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will likely be more concerned about keeping his star names.

But with finances the way they are in Scottish football as the impact of the coronavirus takes hold it may mean clubs have to be creative or look to focus at players on expiring deals and the side they can build next season.

Forward tipped for Ibrox move

Ex-England striker Kevin Phillips reckons QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel could be tempted with a January move to Ibrox.

The 22-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and has been linked with a move north.

Phillips told Football Insider: "He could push for a move in January. The way Rangers are playing and the troubles Celtic are having, bar a major collapse, it looks like Rangers will go and secure the league title.

Celtic recruitment department slammed

Celtic’s recruitment department has been criticised by former player Kris Commons.

He told the Daily Mail: "The recruitment has been absolutely abysmal. It's not that Celtic haven't spent money. They have spent plenty. It's how they've spent it that's been the problem.

"None of them looks up to scratch. Who sourced these players? There has to be some accountability in the recruitment department.

“That's been the problem at Celtic for far too long. Too many players signed for decent money who just patently aren't good enough.”

Barker’s Rangers future

Rangers star Brandon Barker’s future is in the air and he could be sold, according to a report.

The winger has been used sporadically of late and has not got off the bench in the past two league games and hasn’t started since the Old Firm clash in October.

Since signing from Manchester City, Barker has struggled to hold down a place in the team.
