It is set to be another big weekend in Scottish football with plenty of action on the field and no doubt off it as well.

The action gets underway on Friday night with Arbroath v Dundee under the lights on BBC Scotland. The biggest games of the weekend will come at Hampden Park with the Betfred Cup semi-finals. St Johnstone v Hibs are first up on the Saturday, while St Mirren face in-form Livingston on the Sunday.

In the league duty, Hearts will be looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Championship as they face Raith Rovers and Rangers their position in the Premiership, they face Ross County with Celtic not playing.

In the background, the transfer window will continue to rumble on as it enters its fourth week ahead of it closing on Monday, February 1.

Hearts, Hibs, St Mirren, Ross County and Livingston have all been busy with more business likely to be done in the coming days, especially involving the Tynecastle side and the Staggies.

There doesn’t, however, appear to be any activity happening at Celtic or Rangers with much of the intrigue surrounding Neil Lennon and his future. Former Bournmeouth boss Eddie Howe has been made odds-on favourites to become the new Parkhead manager, while Charlie Nicholas has suggested his former side look further afield to a huge name like Xavi or Xabi Alonso with the Spanish legends taking their first steps in management and coaching.

We will have all the latest from around the SPFL throughout the day as it happens.

Kingsley pens new Hearts deal

Hearts have announced a contract extension for Stephen Kingsley.

The defender has agreed a deal until the end of the 2021 / 22 season.

Clubs keen on Ibrox target

West Ham and Newcastle United are interested in Rangers striker target Fashion Sakala.

The Zambian international has scored eight goals in 19 games this season for Belgian too-flight side Oostende.

Former Hearts man Toby Sibbick was a team-mate of Sakala’s in the first half of the season and has backed him to be a “great addition for Rangers”.

He told the Daily Record: “Fashion has a lot of pace and is direct on the ball. He can play as the main striker but also out wide and I know having played against Rangers last season they play with a front three so he can fill in on either wing because he likes to get on the ball and beat players one on one.”

Thomas Robert latest

Airdrieonians star Thomas Robert has been talked about often recently.

The Frenchman has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers and Hearts and Hibs.

His performances in League One with Airdrie have led to him being scouted.

However, according to PA, Rangers have no interest in the player with the attacker not on Steven Gerrard’s transfer wishlist.

Celtic eye midfielder

Celtic are keeping their eye on Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy with the view to a possible move, according to a report.

The former Hamilton Accies ace has been linked with a switch to Parkhead numerous times.

A boyhood Celtic fan, McCarthy is out of contract at the end of the season. He is currently a squad player at the Eagles.

Hearts target not for sale

Walsall have turned down an approach from Hearts for striker Elijah Adebayo, according to the Express & Star.

Robbie Neilson is keen to add the target man to his squad this month.

However, the 23-year-old is a key part of Darrell Clarke’s side as they target promotion from League Two.

Hearts will likely have to put in an offer which is attractive enough for Walsall to agree to part with their top scorer.
