The January transfer window in England has already seen a number of high profile deals being struck and there could very well be more to come before it closes.

Always one of the most exciting non-matchday events in the football calendar, “Deadline Day” is fast approaching where news outlets send reporters across the country to try and be the first to get the scoop on any last minute deals.

There have been many memorable moments over the years and this latest Deadline Day has the chance to provide more of the same, especially with so many big rumours flying about.

Here is everything you need to know about the 2022 January transfer window Deadline Day, when it is and how you can watch all the news break.

When is transfer deadline day and what time does the window close?

The 2022 January transfer window opened on January 1 and will lose on Monday, January 31 at 11pm.

The first day of the new year is the standard opening time of the mid-season transfer window for most of Europe’s top leagues except for La Liga and Serie A which did not open till January 3.

Deadline Day will come on the last day of the month and clubs will have to have their deals done by 11pm in the Premier League and EFL and by midnight in Scotland.

Although the window closes at 11pm for Premier League sides, they do have till midnight to finalise the necessary documentation through FIFA that is required to complete a move.

Which Premier League clubs will be busiest on Deadline Day?

Newcastle United are expected to be the busiest Premier League club when the January transfer window begins to draw to a close.

Eddie Howe has already brought in Chris Wood and Kieran Tripper but there are still a number of high profile names being linked with moves to St James’ Park and many of those could end up going right to the wire.

In the Football League, clubs might look to the ongoing situation at Derby County and see the potential for a last minute bit of ‘cut-price’ business with the administration hit Rams needing to sell players in order to raise money.

Meanwhile, it could be a busy deadline day in Scotland where the likes of Celtic, Hibs and Hearts have already been busy but other big names such as Rangers and Aberdeen still have business to do.
