Pakistan’s most notable win came in their first match of the World Cup when they beat tournament favourites India by 10 wickets with 13 balls left.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of Pakistan’s bowlers taking three wickets for 31 runs, with Hasan Ali, Shadab khan and Haris Rauf aiding the paceman as India made 151-7.

Afridi has been Pakistan’s key bowler throughout their T20 World Cup campaign

Then in came Mohammad Rizwan who smashed 79 runs off 55 balls with Babar Azam assisting with 68 runs off 52 to get Pakistan to 152 without losing a wicket.

Australia have come through to the semi final losing only one match. Aaron Finch’s squad lost by eight wickets to England in their third match of the tournament. They have had convincing wins against West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka while also beating South Africa by five wickets with only two balls left in their opening match.

Now the Aussies are set to face arguably the strongest team in the competition in the hope of getting through to lift the ICC T20 World Cup Trophy.

Have Australia played Pakistan in T20 cricket before and what are this year’s predictions?

The two sides have faced each other 23 times since the T20 format of the game was introduced in 2007.

Australia have won nine times with Pakistan winning 13 times, however Australia have won in their two most recent fixtures. In 2019, Pakistan toured Australia and not only did Australia beat their opponents by 10 wickets in the final match of the tour, they then sealed the three-match series 2-0.

Australia celebrate their 2-0 series win over Pakistan

In previous T20 World cups, the two have played each other six times with three wins each, thus setting up the 2021 semi final for a hopefully exciting and tense match. Australia won their last T20 World Cup meet in 2016 by 21 runs.

With Pakistan on such an impressive run at the moment, it would seem unlikely they would collapse just yet, however they have had a reputation of being one of the most inconsistent sides in world cricket so any outcome of tomorrow’s match is still very likely.

Pakistan will not just be hoping to lengthen their winning streak, but will also hope to become the second team in history to win the competition twice. At the moment, the West Indies are the only nation to have completed this feat, but Pakistan will hope to end their 11 year drought.
