Phil Taylor ‘disgusted’ by Glasgow spitting incident

DARTS ace Phil Taylor said last night that he was ‘disappointed’ after a spectator spat at him before a match at Glasgow’s SECC.

Taylor, a 16-time world champion, was making his way to the oche for his match with Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld when he alerted security to the attack.

Taylor won the match 7-3, but spoke afterwards of his disappointment at the spitter’s actions and said that he was “a bit disgusted”.

“I wanted to give the fans a show,” he said. “It’s a shame if one tries to spoil that.”

Two years ago at the same event, fellow English darts player Adrian Lewis was attacked with a glass of beer and struck by a coin during a match. Lewis described the actions of some in the crowd as “sad”.
