What is Aaron Ramsey's Juventus weekly wage? Contract details as Rangers eye deadline day transfer

Aaron Ramsey to still receive eye-watering salary as Juventus and Rangers close in on loan deal

The Welsh and Juventus footballer Aaron Ramsey is being eyed up by a number of clubs this January transfer season but with the deadline fast approaching, it appears that Scottish club Rangers are the closest to signing a deal with the midfielder.

Crystal Palace and Wolves are two that have been said to be interested but have now turned their attention elsewhere. Burnley was another side who had been linked with intentions to sign the welsh international but must now console themselves as it looks like he is set to travel much further north.

The 30-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in June 2023 but a return to the UK looks much more imminent with Juventus not making any secret about how keen they are to get the Welshman off their books.

Ramsey has fallen out of favour with Juventus boss Allegri

Ramsey has started just one Serie A game and was reportedly told by the Juventus boss, Max Allegri, that he does not feature in Allegri’s plans and is likely to be excluded from the Champions League last-16 squad.

Many, including the former Crystal Palace owner, have questioned how Rangers would be able to afford such a player but intentions have become clear that a move for the former Arsenal player would significantly boost the Ibrox side’s chances of beating Celtic in the race for the Champions League spot.

Here is all you need to know about Ramsey’s potential move to Rangers…

How much is Aaron Ramsey earning at Juventus?

Aaron Ramsey became the highest-earning British player ever based on basic salary when he signed the £400,000 a week contract to join Juventus.

The Gunners received no fee when the Welsh international signed for the Italian side. He is currently the third highest earner at the club, behind Matthijs de Ligt and Paulo Dybala.

Previously, Ramsey joined Arsenal from Cardiff City for a fee of around £4.8m and it would now appear that Juventus are willing to pay the majority of his eye-watering fees if a loan deal is approved.

What would be in Ramsey’s contract with Juventus and Rangers?

The Italian journalist Franco Leonetti has claimed that a €2,5m loan move will be struck until June with an additional €5,5m option to buy - this could be obligatory if he helps Rangers to win the title in the summer.

It is thought that Juventus would be willing to share the enormity of Ramsey’s weekly wage as Leonetti says: “As I anticipated some time ago, Juve are willing to share in the payment of Ramsey’s salary in order to close the loan deal with Glasgow Rangers

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace boss Simon Jordan spoke of his surprise that Rangers could consider such a target: “The SPFL is alive and kicking between Celtic and Rangers. If Celtic win on Wednesday, they go top of the league at a very significant time of the season.

“Ramsey going to Rangers, economically, doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. If you listen to a lot of the rumours, Rangers don’t have that much money.

“Now, if you put that into the equation you wonder how they are going to afford his wages, but if a player wants to play, and is prepared to come out of the contract and not ask for a ridiculous salary, you can see it.

The bottom line is you wonder how Rangers, with all due respect to them, will want to pay a significant part of that salary.

On paper it looks like a great signing, financially, I would struggle to see why Rangers would want to do it.”
